So, fast forward to February, 2016; Arthur is now the grand old age of 3yrs old. He's had a go at agility, had his first holiday to France and now has a firm circle of doggy pals - so what next? Why not audition for a West End show?
Thanks to the powers of social media, a post popped up looking for well behaved dogs to take part in a 'cult theatre' show. The timing was perfect. My husband and I were on half term holidays (one of the only perks of being a teacher) and we love going into London with Arthur so why not roll in a quick audition. I got in touch with a lovely woman called Jhan, who turned out to be our scene director, and an audition was arranged in two days time.
Now, before I carry on, I must explain that the show turned out to be one of the most interesting, 'out of the box' experiences I have EVER had. This was no ordinary show! It was an immersive theatre show that pushed boundaries, evoked a range of emotions and had passengers not an audience. 'You Me Bum Bum Train' as the show was called (the reason for the title is a mystery which is deliberate) and consisted of 20+ separate scenes that (if you were lucky enough to get a ticket) as a passenger you travelled through complety on your own. Passengers were immersed into experiences that exposed thier core feelings and responses to what are rather provocative and emotive scenarios.
AMAZING.
As a 'cast member' I am sworn to secrecy and can give no more detail than that! Sorry.
So, back to the audition... we met Jhan at a secret location (I must admit that at times I was dubious that it was a real show!) ,had a tour backstage and Arthur just did his thing... needless to say we signed up and that was that. A week later, we were back on the train to rehearsals!
